A Snapshot of the Digital World
By | January 31, 2010
In a world where waste is frowned upon, digital technology has ensured both time and money is not frittered away when it comes to photography.
Digitalisation has fundamentally changed the world of professional photography â?? and for the better.
One way it has changed the photography landscape is in terms of speed. Previously, once youâ??d visited a professional photographer youâ??d have to wait a couple of weeks or more before you could actually view the finished photographs.
Now the whole process only takes a few days. Smaller digital printers even make it possible for a photographer to print some initial pictures actually at the event or photo shoot, so the results are instantaneous and you can get a good idea of how the finished product will look â?? or which shots need to be re-done.
Digital portrait photography is not only quicker, it is more cost effective because money is not wasted on expensive camera film, which used to be an expensive overhead for professional  photographers â?? one that was ultimately passed onto the customer.
Furthermore, because only the pictures that are needed are printed, it is also more economical and environmentally-friendly. The cost of expensive processing equipment has been removed, while there is no need for darkroom equipment that was once necessary for film processing.
Digital photography is getting cheaper as the technology advances, so it is becoming more affordable for the customer. As a result, customers obtain better quality photographs for less.
Editing software also allow images to be touched up and modified to further improve the quality and the look of the photograph, so perfect results can be achieved every time.
